The Farm That Started It All

Our origin dates back to 1980 on farm just north of Byron Bay, when father Joe and son Michael began growing a range of different crops using Hydroponics.

At the time, this method of growing was a virtually unheard of technology and was not being utilised by commercial farmers in Australia. As pioneers of this type of farming, the limited available information required the pair to undertake all of their own research and development, which allowed them to build significant hands-on expertise in understanding the nutrient needs of various crop types.

After selling the farm in 1987 the duo shifted to consultancy and went on to help farmers around the world to establish their own hydroponic farms and tailor nutrients to their crops needs.

In 1999, after years of helping establish hydroponic farms around the world, Michael returned home and opened his own hydroponic supplies store to stay closer to family. It was here that the formula available today first began to take shape.

Nutrients Made for Growers

Most brands in the hydroponic industry design their formulas around the reliance of expensive additives to increase profits. Coming from an experienced farmer’s perspective, we knew quite well that there was a better way.

After years of seeing growers struggle with unnecessary complexity and costs, Michael decided to develop a streamlined formula that built the benefits of additives directly into the base nutrients. The result was the 3 Stage Nutrient, Byron Bay Gold. Named in homage to where it all began - on a family farm near Byron Bay.
